Community Programs

We are focused on strengthening our community’s capacity to provide quality care through the end of life.

Needs identified by our community guide our funding decisions.

  • Integrative Health

Humans are holistic beings with spiritual, emotional, and physical needs throughout life’s many seasons. A growing body of research supports an integrative approach to care, specifically at the end of life. This program offers access to integrative modalities of care including but not limited to acupressure, acupuncture, reiki, guided imagery, massage, aromatherapy, cupping, breathing exercises, and meditation.

  • Portraits of Love

This program offers portrait sessions for those receiving palliative or hospice care services and their loved ones. Being surrounded by loved ones is important for those faced with chronic or life-limiting illnesses. Although this can be a difficult and painful time for those involved, intertwined in these moments, we can also find beauty, meaning, joy, and deep reflections of love. Capturing these moments, as an integral part of life’s journey, can serve as a lasting tribute and meaningful remembrance.

  • Dream a Little Dream

This program offers palliative and hospice patients the opportunity to fulfill a final wish. Through the Dream a Little Dream program, those faced with life-limiting illnesses are given the opportunity to experience the fulfillment of a life’s dream. Living in Dying seeks to carry out its mission by fostering a sense of value, quality, and meaning in the lives of those receiving hospice and palliative care.

  • Community of Caring

When a person has a chronic or life-limiting illness, the needs of the primary caregiver and loved ones are too often overlooked. Recognizing the crucial importance of supporting those who serve as primary caregivers, this program aims to care for the carers; the loved ones who are too often forced to put their needs aside. Examples of services provided include: respite care, meal or grocery delivery, pharmaceutical delivery, housekeeping, gardening, assistance with errands, etc.

  • Patient and Family Assistance Fund

Meeting the basic needs of the palliative and hospice community is core to our mission. The aim of this program is to provide assistance to individuals who demonstrate a financial need. Examples of support include: utility costs, housing, food, general living expenses, caregiving services, medication unrelated to the terminal diagnosis, hospice care for the uninsured, transportation, medical supplies, etc.

  • Community Education Events

Conversations around the topic of death and dying can be difficult. In fact, it is a subject that we often avoid in our society. For many, dying is viewed as a medical experience rather than what it is: a human experience. As humans, each and every one of us will inevitably face death. At Living in Dying, we believe that living well includes dying peacefully, in comfort, and with dignity.

We are committed to providing ongoing education to both the medical community and the community at large on the topic of death & dying and end-of-life care. The goal is to broaden the reach of palliative and hospice care, emphasizing the tremendous benefits for those with chronic and life-limiting illnesses, while normalizing and encouraging conversation around death in the United States.

The generosity of our donors, volunteers, and community make these programs possible.
